The discipline of reality capture is completeness: recording an environment densely enough that questions can be answered afterwards without returning to site. Handheld LiDAR with full-dome imagery captures geometry and appearance together, so the record is both measurable and recognisable.
Where the deliverable must be experienced—walked through by a stakeholder rather than measured by an engineer—3D Gaussian Splatting output produces photorealistic, navigable scenes from the same capture pass.
